My professions

My name is Lindy Bremer. At a very early age I was constantly on the move and always putting on private shows for my family - I knew that I wanted to become a dancer! At the age of ten I passed the audition for the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, completing my primary school and high school years there. Highlights of my classical ballet training at the Conservatory were dancing "La Sylphide" together with the Dutch National Ballet and performing George Balanchine's "Jewels".  After seven years of classical training I wanted to diversify into contemporary dance and chose Codarts, University of Arts in Rotterdam as the platform to broaden my dance education. At Codarts as well as performing pieces from choreographers such as Jiřï Kylián and William Forsythe I further developed my improvisation and choreography skills. I am very pleased with my all-round dance education, enabling me to perform in very diverse dance roles and with my additional skills that enable me to interpret pieces and guide other dancers.

Whilst at Codarts I carried out an internship at Introdans, one of the leading dance companies in Holland. Work with this company threw up many challenges, but this gave me many opportunities to learn. During my short internship I learned and performed pieces from Inbal Pinto, Mauro de Candia and Cayetano Soto.

After graduating as Bachelor of Dance, I joined De Dutch Don’t Dance Division (DDDDD) in The Hague. This is a youth company specially set up to give young dancers the chance to develop performance experience on the way to becoming a professional dancer. The season with DDDDD gave me the possibility to perform in a wide range of dance environments, from performing in intense technical performances through to more commercial work such as dancing in Armin van Buuren's "Only Armin" and in Holland’s Got Talent, where we reached the final. Alongside my own performances I love to transfer my knowledge and enthusiasm to the next generation of dancers, to this end I started teaching children at "Dansstudio" in Haarlem. I hope to broaden my teaching to a larger number of children in the near future.

Throughout my education and in my ongoing dance career I have always felt the need to be independent so that I can continue to explore different facets of myself. I would particularly like to create and choreograph more of my own pieces whilst continuing to perform as a freelance dancer. Whilst at Codarts I also got my first taste of combining acting and dance - it is fascinating to perform with body, expression and voice at the same time. I want to further develop this facet by beginning an acting course.

My first professional freelance job is as a guest dancer with Staatstheater Cottbus in Germany. Working with choreographer Nils Christe and assistant Annegien Sneep, is inspirational and such a pleasure.

“LB Productions is my vehicle to work as a freelancer in dance, choreography or acting and, where I can, combine all of these”.
